‘CFO’/Head of Finance m/f

prefer a 30-45-year old but again, not a must

(they do not use ‘C’ titles)

Must have

  1. A strong leadership personality and genuine business acumen
  2. MBA or MSc in Accounting/ Finance
  3. At least 7+ yrs of experience in a senior finance role
  4. People Management experience of 3+ years
  5. Min 4-5 years of experience/exposure in the manufacturing industry
  6. A big plus: 4-5 yrs senior financial work experience abroad

Purpose of the Job

Develop and implement financial and management accounting systems, policies/procedures to ensure prudent financial and revenue management to enhance business operations of the Company.
Emphasis is on “enhance business operations”… You understand and can help as a CFO to enrich and optimize other business processes like Supply Chain, Sales, etc

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Policy Development

Develop the strategy/business plan for the Finance Department as input into the overall corporate strategy and monitor its implementation.

Develop policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), workplan and other support systems including monitoring mechanisms in managing the Department to achieve set targets.

Financial Accounting

Lead the implementation and maintenance of internal financial controls. This involves the following:

  • Implementation and effective monitoring of all system accounts (General Ledger, Fixed Assets Register, Debtors and Creditors accounts, etc.) to ensure accurate balances
  • Preparing complete and accurate financial reports and analysis
  • Monitoring key financial risk indicators
  • Contributing to the improvement of the overall control environment of the Company. Monitor cash resources and advise on investment opportunities as appropriate.

Direct the preparation of periodic Cash Flow Statements in line with approved policies and guidelines.

Develop accounts payable/receivable systems and monitor their implementation to ensure that all payments are in line with approved accounting policies/guidelines.

Review and analyze periodic bank reconciliation statements and accounts reconciliation and initiate corrective actions where necessary.

Review and analyze financial accounting systems and advise on any inconsistencies for remedial action.

Vet and certify bills, invoices, claims, advances, salaries, etc. prior to payment to ensure consistency with laid down policies.

Management Accounting

Coordinate the preparation of the annual operating budget of the Company and monitor its implementation against expenditure and planned budget.

Responsible for the preparation of variance analysis of revenue and expenditure against budget and report/advice on any deviations for corrective action.

Responsible for the development of effective Fixed Assets Register system and monitor its implementation to ensure compliance.

Monitor to ensure compliance of statutory deductions and payments (i.e. Tax, SSNIT, etc.).

Monitor cost/expenditure and prepare relevant reports to guide Management in decision-making.

Revenue Generation & Management

Responsible for managing all short- & long-term investments of the Company.

Liaise with the Business Development & Marketing Department to develop a comprehensive pricing mechanism to facilitate sales operations and stay competitive in the Market.

Review and identify risks associated with revenue generation/procedures and initiate action for the improvements of control plans.

Analyze financial statements to determine revenue/income flow to aid in financial forecasting and planning.

Engage in ongoing cost reduction analysis in all areas of the company.

Participate in target costing activities to create products that meet predetermined price goals.

Participate in the determination of product pricing in relation to features offered and competitor pricing

Interpret the company’s financial results to management and recommend improvement activities

Monitor financial transactions, sales contracts, etc. with clients to ensure compliance with approved policies and contract terms.

Liaise with Banks to ensure timely and accurate cash deposits and transfers to facilitate business operations.

Monitor to ensure accurate and timely preparation of bank reconciliation statements.

Warehouse Management

Direct and manage the warehouse function in accordance with approved policies/procedures and regulatory requirements.

Direct and supervise stock accounting activities of the Company to ensure effective management of the warehouse function.

Stakeholder Relations & Management

Maintain professional working relationships with Service Providers, Clients, External Auditors, Regulatory Agencies, Financial Institutions and other stakeholders in the area of financial management.

Manage business relationships with counter- parties as appropriate.

Information & Reporting

Stay abreast with legislations, rules/regulations and international best practices in Financial Management to facilitate and enhance the business operations of the Company.

Responsible for the maintenance and update of records on financial and non-financial data to facilitate qualitative and quantitative analysis of the Finance function to support Management decision- making.

Responsible for the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.

Monitor to ensure that all financial and management accounting reporting systems are in line with regulatory requirements and International Financial Reporting Standards.

Coordinate the preparation of annual statutory financial statements.

Monitor to ensure timely preparation and submission of statutory reports and returns to the GRA, SSNIT and other regulatory bodies.

Employee Performance & Development

Hold direct reports accountable for the performance of assignments in their respective areas of responsibilities.

Conduct performance appraisal and provide input for career development and recommend performance incentives for subordinate staff.

Identify training needs and facilitate training for subordinate staff

 

JOB SPECIFICATION

Education

Masters Degree or equivalent professional qualification in Accounting, Finance or related field. Must be a member of a recognized professional body.

Professional Qualification

You are a fully Chartered Accountant

Experience

Seven (7) years of relevant working experience with at least 3 years in a management position.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge in the use of accounting methodologies and tools. Proven planning and organizing skills.
  • Considerable knowledge of the International Financial Reporting System (IFRS), Accounting and Auditing Standards.
  • Good financial knowledge, including treasury management, investment planning, asset allocation, etc.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in strategic planning. Proven ability in financial modeling and forecasting.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict management skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and report writing skills.
  • High ability to work in a fast- paced and often pressured environment.
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders and work effectively with all categories of employees.
  • Good knowledge in project management.
  • Good knowledge in the use of accounting/financial software and tools, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, MS Project, Internet etc.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of enterprise-wide accounting information systems. Good managerial, coaching and interpersonal skills in a “team” setting.

The Company is based in Tema Heavy Industrial Area

Working Days

This is a 5-day a week job but occasionally you might need to work half days on Saturdays

 

Salary + Benefits

The Target Salary for this role is around 14..000-  20.000 net – depending on your experience, education, professional qualifications, etc please.
