junior TVET Portfolio Coordinator m/f
for theirDevelopment Finance projects, based in Accra.
Females are preferred.
–must have: TVET experience or strong understanding + a Masters in Development Studies- eg Finance, Banking, Economics, Monitoring & Evaluation, Community Development, Accounting, etc…
–Experience with project finance and #project #management/ coordination is a big plus.
The Company/ Organization
Our client is basically a bank/ a financial institute., They finance development projects in 70 countries, founded in 1948 and their goal is to support partner countries in fighting poverty and accelerating sustainable economic development, maintaining peace, and protecting both the environment and the climate.
In Ghana, they have been a long-standing development partner to the Government of Ghana, engaged in the priority areas, amongst others Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Financial Sector Development, and Energy.
What we are looking for
We are looking for a motivated and talented early-career professional for the position of Junior Portfolio Coordinator for development projects in the sector of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and possibly other sectors. Applications from young professionals and women are particularly encouraged.
Our well-established portfolio with Ghana focuses on the support of the development of a modern vocational training system. An economy cannot develop sustainably and on a large scale without a qualified non-academic workforce. In vocational training in particular, the training and teaching curricula are still poorly aligned with the actual needs of companies, and teaching infrastructure is inadequate. The portfolio entails projects financed by the German Government.
You will be working in an international, diverse, and challenging environment and offered an attractive remuneration package. You will receive on-the-job training in Ghana and join trainings held online and at our head office in Europe.
It is envisaged that an employment period would start latest in January 2026.
Duties + Responsibilities
In close collaboration with the portfolio managers at the European headquarters, and under the supervision of the Director of the Office in Accra and the technical guidance of a Head of Division in HQ, you will assist in the conceptual and organisational preparation, appraisal, management, and monitoring of assigned projects. You will help maintain close working relationships with government institutions, implementing agencies, and other partners in Ghana and act as a contact point within your areas of responsibility.
Your tasks include the following responsibilities:
- Monitoring and analysing economic, political, and sector developments (focus on TVET and Energy) and identifying potential areas for future intervention
- Maintaining close and effective working relationships with counterparts in the Ghanaian Government, our country’s development cooperation, and international partners
- Supporting partner institutions in project implementation, including basic financial monitoring
- Assisting in the preparation of project appraisal reports and supporting financing contract negotiations
- Following up on project implementation processes, such as procurement, progress monitoring, reporting, fund flow tracking, and processing disbursement requests
- Contributing to the full project cycle – from preparation to final evaluation – by drafting text contributions and preparing documents for our HQ (e.g. on country context, sector developments, project progress)
- Participating in sector meetings and contributing to technical discussions
- Preparing and supporting communication on the portfolio
- Preparing and supporting project missions from our HQ
- Coordinating with consultants and providing feedback on their deliverables
- Working closely with project managers in Europe and the Accra office team to identify solutions to challenges
- Supporting other office tasks as required
Requirements and skills
- Master’s degree in Development Studies- eg Finance, Banking, Economics, Monitoring & Evaluation, Community Development, Accounting, etc… – as they are a bank, a general understanding of development finance would be a big asset
- Solid understanding of the TVET sector; initial professional experience in related fields is an asset
- Basic knowledge of the financial sector is a must
- project management experience and education, would be a very strong asset
- Experience with or exposure to international organizations or development cooperation is an asset
- Good professional network within relevant sectors in Ghana (advantageous) e.g. TVET, Financial sector development, Decentralization, Social Security, Private Sector Development …
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent command of English (written and spoken); German language skills are an asset
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, with attention to detail
- Proactive, reliable, and able to work both independently and as part of a multicultural team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships
- The willingness to travel within the country, potentially in Eastern Africa, as well as to Europe as required.
Salary
16.000-30.000 gross depending on education and experience
You also get 14 monthly salaries per year instead of 12.
Client also provides private medical insurance.
