Our Client, an international construction firm, is looking for a

CHARTERED ACCOUNTANT m/f

Head of 6-member Reporting & Accounting Team

must be fully Chartered- absolutely no Level 2 or 3 candidates please – respect that please.

Location is Cantonments

Ideally, you are 30-35… not a must

This is a 5.5 days a week role; they work from 9 to 2 pm on Saturdays.

The Job

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with 8+ years of progressive accounting experience to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership capabilities, deep technical accounting expertise, and the ability to drive financial process improvements while mentoring junior team members.

You will be managing a Reporting and Accounting Team of 6.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and adherence to reporting timelines.
  • Prepare accurate and timely periodic financial reports (monthly, quarterly, and annual), in compliance with IFRS and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and ensure all accounting transactions are accurately recorded in the ERP system.
  • Manage and review tax compliance,  including preparation and timely filing of all statutory returns (VAT, PAYE, corporate tax, etc.).
  • Manage and review accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring proper controls and timely reconciliations.
  • Oversee and coordinate internal and external audit processes, ensuring audit readiness at all times.
  • Identify and lead ERP  and financial process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reporting accuracy.
  • Mentor and provided day-to-day guidance to 6 junior accountants and finance team members.
  • Support the Head of Finance with ad-hoc financial analysis, board reporting, and strategic projects.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • ACCA/CA fully chartered – this is a must.
  • Prefer a mining, drilling or construction experience but NOT a must
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role.
  • Proven proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Sage, or similar).
  • Experience with Priority ERP is a plus
  • Strong working knowledge of IFRS and local tax regulations (GRA compliance).
  • Demonstrated expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Advanced Excel skills – you will be tested on that…
  • Experience in construction is an advantage.
  • Track record of managing or coordinating audit processes (internal and external).

Working hours

Normal office hours- Saturday is a half day: they work 9-2 pm

 

SALARY

10-13,500 NET depending on experience for high calibre candidates, the salary can go up to 15,000

+ 400 per month for medical
