Our client -who is already in the food services, is starting a new food production company and they are looking for a:

PLANT MANAGER or SHIFT SUPERVISOR or PRODUCT MANAGER m/f

Candidates are welcome ideally with a Food / FMCG or CPG background or something related.

But, you must have the required experience and be able to function in a food production start-up.

This is a hands-on managerial role

You must be able to work with people from all sorts of nationalities and cultures

 

The Job

The Production Manager will play a pivotal role in leading a high- performing team within a fast-paced, foods manufacturing environment. This role is for a results- driven leader who combines technical expertise with exceptional people leadership to deliver world-class performance. This role holds full responsibility for driving operational excellence, championing safety and quality, and delivering results that directly impact our consumers and communities.

KeyÂResponsibilities

Production

  • Champion a zero-injury culture, ensuring strict adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements (OSHA, environmental compliance).
  • Actively participate in the implementation of site-specific safety, quality and environmental programs, with the ability to lead and elevate the current safety and quality culture to world-class standards.
  • Lead factory improvement programs by leveraging best practices and identifying new safety techniques, quality initiatives, cost-saving opportunities, and development strategies to enhance overall factory performance—including production costs, labor (fixed and variable), Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE), waste, attainment, and business waste. We don’t expect you to be an OSHA expert but you should oversee safety.
  • Maintain a strategic perspective, balancing the broader needs of the business with those of the factory.
  • Drive perfect quality throughout all Make and Pack processes.
  • Inspire, coach, and develop a factory team to build a high-performance culture.
  • Manage employee relations in alignment with HR policies and procedures to ensure high engagement levels.
  • Build and develop AGILE work systems that engage, empower, and motivate factory team toward a highly autonomous work culture.
  • Verify and maintain Production records

Warehouse- you will have an assistant for most of these

  • Lead and manage warehouse stock counts, including cycle counts and physical inventories.
  • Manage day-to-day inventory operations, ensuring proper application of FIFO / LIFO principles.
  • Prepare and manage write-off proposals and stock adjustment recommendations.
  • Drive warehouse and transportation improvements through process standardization, innovation, digitalization, and best practices.
  • Lead and support saving and cost optimization projects related to warehouse and distribution operations.
  • Support special projects that deliver gross margin improvement and cost efficiency.
  • Ensure all warehouse and distribution activities comply with legal, statutory, regulatory, and insurance requirements.

ProductionÂPlanning

  • Create feasible,shift-level production plans that optimize factory performance while considering capacity, labor, materials, and sequencing requirements.
  • Manage long-term weekly production plans to drive accurate material requirements
  • Review daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules to ensure alignment with business priorities.
  • Publish weekly production schedules and review changes, limitations, and priorities necessary to meet customer orders and abnormal events.
  • Serve as the point of contact between the factory and corporate supply chain to determine business priorities.

MaterialsÂPlanning

  • Expedite materials required to support production using appropriate systems.
  • Determine material delivery needs based on production usage; plan orders, schedule deliveries, and manage transfer orders.
  • Monitor inventory to maintain proper rotation, preventing expired or obsolete materials.
  • Coordinate shipment, sale, or donation of obsolete material.
  • Follow upon scheduled deliveries, identify late or inconsistent orders, and work directly with vendors to resolve issues.
  • Manage raw goods returns and rejections, including paperwork, vendor communication, credit memos, and downtime/labor documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management, Business Management, a technical field, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of product management including supply chain experience in a food, CPG, or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing multi-shift operations with at least 2-3 years in a manager capacity.

  • Proven ability to provide clear focus and direction, empower teams, and hold them accountable for results.
  • Creative problem-solving skills with a diplomatic approach to conflict resolution.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with a track record of inspiring teams and driving continuous improvement.
  • Ability to manage conflict effectively while fostering an inclusive work environment.
  • Self-motivated with a strong focus on problem-solving.
  • Proven ability to champion change management initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing and distribution processes.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) required.
  • Experience with SAP or another ERP tool and/or production scheduling strongly preferred

Working hours

Normal office hours during the week -5 days

 

Salary + Benefits

The Target Base Salary for this role is between 10.000 and 15,000 net – depending on your experience, education, professional qualifications, etc.
